Among 19th c family villas in the village one was a practice base for students of Tbilisi State Academy of Art, since 1950 es; others served different needs like forestry management or were vacant as Art Villa Garikula. From the Academy base the garden and citadel of Garikula were well seen near the river. In 70-es students started to visit it as a new place free from teachers of Academy.
