Nature Wavelike mountains, coloured stone and crystal mines, spots of clay and natural pigments and roads bleached to white, lots of altitudes and many different views with plenty of space make Garikula especially attractive for visual artists. Glittering wide river pressed in warm colours of industrial Kaspi shades metallic jarring at railroad stops; old fabrics with scintillating aura so odd they seem part of nature proudly raise flaking pipes against white background; old houses hide among fruit trees of red, yellow and all shades of silver in the winter; and the near to Alpine forest zone just 12 kilometres away brings clean air, also from famous winter resorts. Sun-suffused gorges speckled with coloured pebbles, air and ground dry and fresh with fine breeze and clean water echo pockets of sounds like leaves and stones under water; cornfields high above sea level with fast shifting clouds so close they influence solid forms as they move. There are many streams: some overturn large stones, others are good for net fishing. The short walk will yield views that unfurl in endless combinations on almost every step, where pronounced calmness allows to focus. Trips to other historical sites will require longer time and dedication, sometimes a 3-axle truck that can cross rivers and climb steep forest roads. The climate in Akhalkalaki is continental, with temperature in summer at celsius min. 18 and max. 35- 37 and winter: min. -2 - -4 and max. 10. |
